'The Bear' final season gets a premiere date

CHICAGO — The fifth and final season of the FX series “The Bear” will premiere on June 25. As with previous seasons, it will be a binge rather than weekly drop, with all eight episodes available for viewing.
The series has been remarkably consistent in maintaining its spot on the calendar — launching in June of 2022 and returning with a new season each June since — putting to lie the conventional wisdom that streaming shows cannot stick to a regular and predictable schedule akin to that of network television.
According to FX: The final season “picks up the morning after Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and Natalie “Sugar” (Abby Elliott) discover that Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) has quit the food industry, leaving the restaurant to them. With no money, the threat of a sale and a torrential storm in their way, the new partners must band together with the rest of the team to achieve one last service, hoping they’ll finally earn a Michelin star. Ultimately, they learn that what makes a restaurant “perfect” might not be the food, but the people.”
It’s unclear if Carmy will be part of that story in any way. The end of Season 4 suggested no, but it’s hard to picture show creator Christopher Storer ending the series with its central character — who had become a downer in ways that felt increasingly repetitive — entirely absent from the proceedings.
Earlier this week, FX release a bonus one-hour flashback episode that is a stand-alone story featuring Cousin Richie (Moss-Bachrach) and Mikey Berzatto (Jon Bernthal) on a day trip to Gary, Indiana.
The series streams on Hulu.
