Why do Christians go on about Jesus speaking only truth and Satan being a liar?

Q: Why do Christians stick their heads in the sand and go on about Jesus speaking only truth and Satan being a liar? I reject such ideas, and it shows ignorance on the part of otherwise smart people. While I’m not a follower of Jesus or Satan, I disagree that Jesus is cool and Satan is hot. – T.D.

A: Whether you believe Jesus is real or not, He is truth and love. He’s done a great deal for everyone. He’s given human beings the very breath of life, the beauty of nature, talent, and intelligence. He has given people opportunity. He has sustained us and offers His love. Jesus said, “Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice” (John 18:37, NKJV).

“[God] makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust” (Matthew 5:45, NKJV). All these good things come from Him. He gives people the right to reject Him, though in doing so God retains the right to judge and condemn those to a life forever separated from Him. When that happens, those condemned will know the absolute truth. God’s wrath will come to those “who suppress the truth in unrighteousness” (Romans 1:18, NKJV). Those who spend eternity separated from God will have no doubt why they are there. “They did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved” (2 Thessalonians 2:10, NKJV).

There’s a great gulf between the Truth and the lie. Jesus Christ is Truth, and Satan is the father and author of lies. “[The devil] was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it” (John 8:44, NKJV).
