NEW YORK — An Italian tourist who was allegedly tortured and held against his will inside a Manhattan apartment for several weeks managed to escape his captors and get help, according to a report and police sources.

Cops have apprehended the alleged kidnapper, who police sources identified as John Woeltz, 37, a crypto trader from Kentucky.

The 28-year-old tourist managed to escape the apartment near the corner of Prince and Mulberry streets on Friday morning and flagged down a traffic agent, who immediately contacted police, a second police source said.

Woeltz was taken into custody and was being questioned by NYPD detectives. Charges weren’t immediately filed.

Woeltz had reportedly been renting out the Prince Street residence for between $30,000 and $40,000 a month.
