Former alt-right influencer Lauren Southern accuses Andrew Tate of sexual assault

Former Canadian alt-right YouTuber Lauren Southern has accused manosphere influencer and alleged rapist Andrew Tate of sexual assault.
Southern alleges in her memoir, “This Is Not Real Life,” that Tate assaulted her after the two met in 2018 when she was 22 years old.
She released several chapters from her self-published book for free on Substack Tuesday, saying she was doing so because they “weren’t written with the intention of profiting off this incident.”
In the excerpts, Southern describes traveling to Romania with British white supremacist Tommy Robinson to pitch Tate and and his brother Tristan on investing in a right-wing media venture.
She says she and Andrew Tate went to dinner in Bucharest where he was first “flirtatious” and “charming” before things started to seem “off.”
Southern says the Tates later invited her back to their compound to discuss the possible investment, but they instead took her to a nightclub where she vomited after one cocktail and one shot. She claims Andrew then picked her up, put her in a car and took her back to her hotel room.
There, “He kissed me. I wasn’t expecting it, and I wasn’t looking for it, but I kissed him back briefly and then told him I wanted to sleep,” she writes. “I was extraordinarily tired. He wanted to go further. I said no, very clearly, multiple times, and tried to pull his hands off me.”
Southern says she attempted to fight back as Tate “put his arm around my neck and began strangling me unconscious.” She claims that every time she “regained enough consciousness to pull at his arms,” he strangled her again.
“I’d prefer not to share the rest. It’s pretty obvious,” she writes.
Southern describes years later reading a news article about other alleged assaults by Tate that were consistent with her experience. She concludes that her assault was a driving force in her decision to leave right-wing politics.
Tate and his brother Tristan have been accused of a number of crimes in Romania and will face criminal charges in the U.K. that include human trafficking and rape after the Romanian investigation wraps up.
Andrew Tate is also accused of pointing a gun in a woman’s face and violently sexually assaulting an ex-girlfriend, among other claims.
