Jonas Brothers cancel Wrigley Field concert, will play at Chicago-area amphitheater instead

CHICAGO — The Jonas Brothers have canceled dates on their upcoming concert tour, including a planned Aug. 26 concert at Wrigley Field in Chicago. According to a message Friday afternoon from the band on social media, the affected performances will be replaced by concerts on the same dates at new venues, including at Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre in Tinley Park for the Chicago show.
“To the fans, we are so excited to get out and be with you for our 20th anniversary tour!” the post said in part. “We’re making some venue changes. But rest assured, all performances are still happening on the same dates and in the same cities. … Previous ticket purchasers for the affected Ticketmaster shows get first priority presale access for the new venue performance. Access to the priority presale is tied to your Ticketmaster account; no additional code is needed. Refunds will be issued automatically to all ticket holders of affected shows.”
Sales for the new concerts, including the Aug. 26 concert in Tinley Park, will begin at 10 a.m.Wednesday; get more information at www.ticketmaster.com
Ticketholders for the Wrigley Field show are being notified that the concert is off.
“Dear Wrigley Field Neighbor,” a Friday email from the Cubs Community Connection said, in part. “The Jonas Brothers August 26 performance at Wrigley Field has been canceled. All Cubs.com Jonas Brothers ticket buyers received information directly regarding this update and the refund process.”
A search on Ticketmaster for the upcoming “JONAS 20: Living the Dream” tour displays the Wrigley Field concert as canceled, and the same for concerts at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., on Aug. 12; Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park on Aug. 14; Detroit’s Comerica Park on Aug. 28; Globe Life Field in Texas on Aug. 31 and Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium on Sept. 6.
“Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event,” reads a statement, in part, on the Ticketmaster sales page. “We’ll issue a refund to the original method of payment.”
New venues for those shows include Jiffy Lube Live in Washington, D.C.; Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Philadelphia; Little Caesars Arena in Detroit; Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas and Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.
The Wrigley Field concert, with guest artists Marshmello and Boys Like Girls, was presented by Live Nation. Requests by the Tribune to Live Nation for more information have not yet been answered.
The Jonas Brothers, formed in New Jersey in 2005 by brothers Kevin Jonas, Joe Jonas, and Nick Jonas, made news in 2013 by canceling 23 tour dates and splitting up mid-tour, citing creative differences. The band reunited in 2019. Their seventh studio album, “Greetings from Your Hometown,” is set to be released on Aug. 8, with the “Dream” tour expected to launch Aug. 10 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
