'South Park' creators postpone new episode hours before air time

“South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone delayed the long-running cartoon’s newest episode mere hours before it was scheduled to air Wednesday night.
“Apparently when you do everything at the last minute, sometimes you don’t get it done,” the creative duo announced early Wednesday afternoon, roughly nine hours before airtime.
“This one’s on us,” they confessed, thanking Comedy Central and “South Park” fans for being so understanding.
The episode is now slated to air Sept. 24, at its usual time of 10 p.m., according to the announcement. The remaining episodes of the season will premiere on Oct. 15, Oct. 29, Nov. 12, Nov. 26 and Dec. 10, and become available to stream on Paramount+ the following day.
While the “South Park” creators offered no specific details on what led to the time crunch, Deadline, citing an insider, reported the delay had to do with “finding the right tone and approach to addressing current events.”
Last week, Comedy Central pulled a “South Park” rerun lampooning Charlie Kirk following the right-wing activist’s fatal shooting at Utah Valley University.
In that episode, the character of Eric Cartman, donning a haircut much like Kirk’s, decides he’ll become an ultra-conservative media figure and debate college students on women’s rights and other issues.
The episode remains available to stream, but the network did take it out of rotation for the time being.
President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and the administration’s policies at-large have also been on the receiving end of the show’s satirical digs this season.
Vance appeared to laugh off his portrayal as the MAGA leader’s servant, while the White House responded to Trump’s depiction by blasting “South Park” as an irrelevant series that’s “hanging on by a thread.”
Parker and Stone later gave a cheeky non-apology for mocking the president.
