Academy Award and Grammy Award winning singer Lionel Richie was reportedly booked into a Missouri intensive care unit following a Saturday night concert.

The 77-year-old pop star checked himself into a St. Louis hospital intensive care unit for testing, according to TMZ. A source reportedly said the “All Night Long” singer is expected to be released Tuesday.

Witnesses at Richie’s show said that he asked stagehands to bring him a chair so he could perform his last number seated. He was said to have been struggling to complete his set.

TMZ also reported that Richie was hospitalized in June following a show in Minnesota that was cut short when he complained of feeling “strange.”

His representative hasn’t returned a request for comment. Richie’s next scheduled gig is a Sept. 26 show in San Francisco. His daughter Nicole posted video from a Good Charlotte concert i n Los Angeles on Sunday. There was no mention of her dad.

Monday marks the 43rd anniversary of Richie’s 1987 release “All Night Long.”
He’s also scored hits with singles including “Hello,” “Dancing on the Ceiling,” “Running with the Night,” “Truly” and “Say You, Say Me.”

He has also served as a judge on the ABC talent show “American Idol” since 2018. He told Grammy.com in 2024 that experience is showing him that the music industry has to work to keep up with all the talented musicians trying to make a name for themselves.

“Unique talent keeps showing up,” according to Richie. “Writers keep showing up.”

The former Commodores frontman last week mourned the death of his friend Dolly Parton, with whom he’d performed live.

“Dolly, what a fun ride,” he posted on Instagram alongside a photo of the pair on stage.
