NEW YORK — Carrot Top is out of the hospital after a recent suicide attempt, which came around the same time allegations of sexual misconduct were made against him.

A source told People the 61-year-old comedian, whose real name is Scott Thompson, is doing well and recovering at home with family by his side.

The update comes after Thompson attempted suicide at his Las Vegas home on Sept. 18. According to a police report obtained by TMZ, officers found him unconscious near the pool in his backyard during a welfare check requested by his manager. They reportedly spoke on the phone that night, with Thompson expressing concern about an article detailing claims of sexual impropriety.

Following the call, Thompson texted his manager a single word — “Done” — prompting the police response. He was subsequently rushed to the hospital in critical condition, and he remained there for about a week.

Just days before his suicide attempt, Thompson was accused of giving alcohol to a 19-year-old at his Winter Park, Florida, home and engaging in sexual conduct with him when he was too drunk to consent. The incident occurred in 2021. The claim was mentioned in a lawsuit filed against him by a different man, Brian Evans, who alleged Thompson had sent him a sexually explicit video of himself, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

Evans used to be Thompson’s opening act at the Luxor in Las Vegas and is now trying to overturn a previous legal settlement he made with the comedian. Thompson’s legal team told TMZ that Evans recently attempted to blackmail the comic with the recording and demanded $500,000 to settle that matter.

Evans has since denied the blackmail claim.
