FORT WORTH, Texas — Taylor Sheridan’s “Frisco King” will release in time for the holidays.

Paramount+ announced Thursday that the Samuel L. Jackson-led series will premiere two episodes on Friday, Dec. 18. The eight-episode show, which filmed in North Texas, will then release weekly on Fridays through January.

“Frisco King” is a spinoff of Sheridan’s “Tulsa King” and sees Jackson reprise his role as former hit man Russell Lee Washington Jr.

“’Frisco King’ follows seasoned New Orleans gangster Lee Washington as he lands in Frisco, Texas, and discovers a hustler’s playground hidden beneath the polished surface of American suburbia. Recruiting an ambitious protégé, a loyal driver, and a growing network of eccentric partners, Lee transforms small hustles into big business. But, every new score raises the stakes, and as his influence grows, so do the risks, forcing Lee to stay one grift ahead. Frisco may not know it yet, but its new king has arrived,” the show’s logline reads.

‘Frisco King’ to premiere in December

In addition to the date and poster, Paramount+ also shared the first trailer for “Frisco King.”

The 30-second teaser sees Jackson hustling around town, making money and recruiting his team of crooks. Stallone appears in the teaser and tells Jackson to see how far he can take things.

“In Frisco, Texas,” Jackson says back to him as the two shake hands.

A couple of Frisco landmarks appear in the teaser like the city’s water tower and the Sandman Signature Plano-Frisco Hotel.

“Frisco King” spent months filming across North Texas earlier this year, including in Dallas, Keller, Denton, Southlake, Fort Worth and, of course, Frisco. The show also spent time in Atlanta, where the last few seasons of “Tulsa King” filmed.

While “Frisco King” has settled into the North Texas suburb, the show was originally supposed to be set and filmed in New Orleans under the title “NOLA King.”

Somewhere down the line, Sheridan relocated and retitled the show to Frisco. He wrote all eight episodes of the show himself and brought on Christina Alexandra Voros and Michael Friedman to split directing duties.

In addition to Jackson and Stallone, “Frisco King” stars Asa Germann, Kai Caster, Lilah Pate and Savanna Gann.
