Iran says Oman presented a US proposal amid nuclear talks

Iran said on Saturday that Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi presented a U.S. proposal to the country during a visit to the Iranian capital.
Albusaidi “paid a short visit to Tehran today to present elements of a U.S. proposal which will be appropriately responded to in line with the principles, national interests, and rights of the people of Iran,” according to a post on X by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
The Omani minister has been mediating between Iran and the Trump administration since April, in talks aimed at resolving a years-long deadlock over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.
Araghchi, who leads Iran’s negotiating team, didn’t disclose any details about the proposal or its contents.
The statement follows comments by U.S. President Donald Trump earlier this month, who said his administration had sent Iran a proposal regarding its nuclear program, warning that “something bad” would happen if Tehran hesitated in accepting the offer. Trump didn’t elaborate on the proposal’s specifics.
The U.S. and Iran held their fifth round of discussions in Rome on May 23, where both sides reported progress, though no date or venue has been set for a follow-up meeting.
