Is Jaylen Brown frustrated with Celtics? Brad Stevens responds to rumor.

BOSTON — During his end-of-season news conference Wednesday, Brad Stevens offered his take on an eye-opening rumor regarding Celtics star Jaylen Brown.
Basketball Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady, who is close with Brown, shared on his podcast this week that Brown has “frustration (that) lies deeply within the (Celtics) organization.”
Stevens said he hasn’t heard anything like that from Boston’s longest-tenured player.
“I talked to Jaylen Monday a little bit, real quickly, and (it) was nothing but positive,” Stevens said. “He has not expressed those frustrations to me. We’ve been here 10 years together, and I do think that, obviously I love JB, and everybody around here loves JB, and I think just like any of our other guys, as we get to the end of the season, I’ll be here, and my door is always open.
“If anybody ever wants to come in and talk about it, and talk about their team, their place, whatever the case may be, I’m all ears. And that would be one through 16, not just Jaylen, not just Jayson (Tatum), not just the guys that have been here. I think it’s really important to be available. So I certainly am, and none of that has been expressed to me.”
McGrady’s comments were a reaction to Brown’s controversial Twitch stream Sunday night, during which the latter accused NBA officials of having an “agenda” against him and called this the “favorite year” of his basketball career despite his team’s first-round playoff exit.
“There’s just been a lot of stuff that I’ve been hearing just going on with the Boston organization with JB,” McGrady said on “Cousins with Vince Carter & Tracy McGrady.” “I think part of him is like, ‘I showed you guys more of who I am as a basketball player, not only just what I did on the basketball court, but the leadership that I displayed within this team. And you’ve seen that, not having our best player in (Jayson Tatum). You’ve seen a different side of me and what I’m able to bring to the game of basketball.’ So all that stuff, I think, just came into play with him and his frustration.”
It was unclear where Brown’s alleged frustration was directed.
The 10th-year pro served as the Celtics’ No. 1 option for most of this season while Tatum recovered from Achilles surgery, and he posted career-best numbers in that role, averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. Brown, who likely will earn either first- or second-team All-NBA honors, has three years remaining on his supermax contract with the Celtics.
He could again see his name in trade rumors this offseason, however, as multiple national NBA insiders already have listed the Celtics as a team to watch for a potential Giannis Antetokounmpo pursuit.
Stevens said the Celtics, who blew a 3-1 lead in their first-round series loss to Philadelphia, will have “honest assessments” about how to improve their roster.
“There’s no question, when you look at what’s true, that though we did a lot of good things, we lost in the first round,” Stevens said. “And we were also 3-11 against the top three seeds in the West and the other top two in the East. So we’ve got to get better.”
