Nicolas Cage is prioritising his children over his acting career.

The 62-year-old movie star has revealed that August, his four-year-old daughter, is his undoubted "priority" at the moment - not his film career.

The Hollywood star - who has been married to actress Riko Shibata since 2021 - told People: "The priority is our daughter, and that's our common ground, and that's our focus. And when I go home, I leave the market on the set, and I come home, and I'm dad. We're both there for her."

Nicolas has sons Weston, 35, and Kal-El, 21, from previous relationships, and in 2022, a rep for Nicolas and Riko announced that they'd welcomed their first child together, a daughter named August Francesca Coppola Cage.

The rep told People at the time: "Nicolas and Riko are happy to announce the birth of their daughter. Mother and daughter are doing fine."

Meanwhile, Nicolas previously revealed that he has a student-like approach to his work.

The actor has achieved huge success during his time in the movie business - but Nicolas acknowledges that he's still learning about his craft.

The film star - who has previously won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe - told Entertainment Tonight: "I certainly can't think in those terms like I've done it all.

"I've always had the mantra that I'm a student. I've viewed my path and film-making as a student. I would never call myself a master.

"I always have something to learn, always want to learn. So, 60 is coming up for sure, so my goal is to read more. I've been lagging in that department. I'd like to read a book a week."

Nicolas became one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood in the mid-90s.

The actor has come under fire for some of his more-recent projects - but Nicolas previously insisted that he's fully committed to everything he does.

He told GQ magazine: "When I was doing four movies a year, back to back to back, I still had to find something in them to be able to give it my all. They didn't work, all of them. Some of them were terrific, like Mandy, but some of them didn't work.

"But I never phoned it in."
