DETROIT — Long gone are the days when you had to pick up a phone attached to a wall and order a pizza.

Now, artificial intelligence can do it for you.

Detroit-based brand Little Caesars announced recently that customers can order pizza, crazy bread and other foods by using ChatGPT.

"Today's consumers are turning to GenAI as part of how they search for everything, including where to get their next meal," said Little Caesars chief marketing officer Greg Hamilton in a press release announcing the news. "We recognize this shift and want to meet our customers where they already are and be the go-to for their pizza occasions. The process is as natural and intuitive as having a conversation. It's not just about technology for technology's sake — it's about making life a little easier for people who love great pizza."

The new feature uses the existing infrastructure of the Little Caesars' mobile app and can be extra helpful when determining how much food is needed to feed a certain number of people or considering dietary or budget needs.

"We've built a sophisticated backend that enables ChatGPT to access our menu, pricing and store locator data in real-time while maintaining security and compliance standards. This is just the beginning of how AI will transform the restaurant industry," said Anita Klopfenstein in a statement. She's the global chief information and digital officer of Little Caesars.

How Little Caesars Chat GPT ordering works

Open ChatGPT on your phone and search for "Little Caesars" in the app menu. From there, you'll sign into your Little Caesars account or create one.

Customers can be specific when ordering, for example, saying, "I need enough pizza to feed 10 people, and two are vegetarians." Orders can be reviewed before being confirmed, and payment works through the Little Caesars app.
