Twins put Byron Buxton on 10-day injured list because of ribcage injury

MINNEAPOLIS — Center fielder Byron Buxton was put on the 10-day injured list by the Twins, retroactive to Sunday, because of left rib cage inflammation.
Catcher Ryan Jeffers was reinstated from the paternity list before Tuesday night’s game against the Red Sox after his wife, Lexi, gave birth to a son, Hayes, over the weekend.
Right-handed pitcher Pierson Ohl was called up from the St. Paul Saints to replace Chris Paddack, who was traded to Detroit on Monday, on the roster.
Buxton was an All-Star this season, and is hitting .282 with 23 home runs and 59 RBIs. He was on the IL earlier this season because of a concussion.
Ohl, 25, will be making his major league debut tonight. He pitched 2 1/3 innings at St. Paul with a 2.82 ERA after being promoted in June from Class AA Wichita. He started the season in Class A Fort Myers.
The native of Moorpark, Calif., was a 14th-round pick by the Twins in 2021 out of Grand Canyon University. He will wear No. 62.
